It in 2010 they implemented a change that helped some of the oil consumption issues, so I would look for a 2010 and newer. 2015 Duramax, 1986 M1031, 2006 1500HD. Like.

Aug 20, 2023 · All Burbs, Tahoe & Yukon w/ 5.3L have AFM except the rare 08/09 Tahoe w/ the 6.2L and 07-09 Yukon Denali with the 6.2L. The 09 Denali & 6.2L Tahoe also run on e85, after that all 6.2L have AFM. If you’re looking to make room for a bigger family hauler find a 07-09 Denali w/o AFM and the 6.2L that will get you to 300k miles.

Aug 17, 2020 · An in-depth look. Active Fuel Management (AFM) was a system GM engineers developed back in 2005 to help improve the fuel mileage from some of their V6 and V8 engine applications. AFM shuts off half of your engines cylinders to operate at a reduced power level to reduce fuel consumption when running in low load and cruise situations.
GM trucks still have cylinder deactivation. They changed the name from AFM to DFM. AFM would only switch between 4 cylinder and 8 cylinder mode. DFM can adjust to any combination of firing of cylinders based on engine load. There were however a handful of trucks that did not have the control module for it due to the chip shortages.
