Adult contemporary music (AC) is a form of radio-played popular music, ranging from 1960s vocal and 1970s soft rock music to predominantly ballad-heavy music of the 1980s to the present day, with varying degrees of easy listening, pop, soul, R&B, quiet storm and rock influence.
- Perry Como. Usually, if it’s a Perry we’re talking about on Billboard.com, it’s Katy. This time it’s Como, who charted 26 songs on the AC chart between 1962 and 1983 (a year before Katy was born).
- Fleetwood Mac. In its “Rumours” heyday, the band was considered a bit too rock-y for AC radio, peaking as high as No. 11 in the ’70s with 1977’s “Dreams.”
