Oct 22, 2019 · SAN MATEO, Calif. (AP) — Al Burton, a TV producer whose six-decade career included an eclectic mix of beauty pageants, variety and game shows and groundbreaking comedies including “The Jeffersons” and “Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman,” died Tuesday.
Al Burton (1928-2019) was a prolific and award-winning producer, writer and director of comedy shows, including "Win Ben Stein's Money", "The Facts of Life" and "Diff'rent Strokes". He also composed and co-wrote themes for several series and developed many young stars' careers.
