Apocalypse Now Redux is a 2001 American extended version of Francis Ford Coppola's epic 1979 war film Apocalypse Now. Coppola, along with editor and longtime collaborator Walter Murch , added 49 minutes of material that had been removed from the initial theatrical release.
A longer director's cut, titled "Apocalypse Now Redux", debuted on 11 May 2001 at the Cannes film festival. This cut was re-edited by Coppola and Walter Murch and features a new Technicolor dye prints with additional footage originally left out of the theatrical release.

Dec 14, 2023 · The Apocalypse Now final version came out in 2019 and was a significant improvement of Apocalypse Now Redux. Coppola took in the criticisms of the Redux version and crafted a new version that trimmed back many of the added scenes or cut them out again entirely.

Feb 5, 2023 · The Redux cut was my first viewing of Apocalypse Now so I have some bias in favor of that cut, but I will try to detach from that in my brief analysis. From a film criticism standpoint, I can agree with most when it is asserted that the theatrical version is the best.
