Ashes to Ashes is a British fantasy crime drama and police procedural drama television series, serving as the sequel to Life on Mars. The series began airing on BBC One in February 2008. A second series began broadcasting in April 2009. A third and final series was broadcast from 2 April to 21 May 2010 on BBC One and BBC HD.
Ashes to Ashes. In the aftermath of a hostage situation, criminal psychologist Alex Drake finds herself transported back in time to 1980s London. There, she comes across bad-mannered DCI Gene Hunt.
Thousands of pounds collected for charity have been stolen, and the only lead is Gil Hollis, the man who raised it. Alex is sure that Gil knows more than he realises and that she can coax it out of him. But when Gene is humiliated on a TV appeal, he resorts to his 'fists first, questions later' method.
