Castle Roche (Irish: Dún Gall) is a Norman castle located some 10 km (7 miles) north-west of Dundalk, County Louth, Ireland. It was the seat of the de Verdun family (also spelt de Verdon ), who built the castle in 1236 AD.

The castle itself, while not intact (it is, after all, a ruin), is fantastic. The front facade really gives a clear picture of what the castle looked liked during its heyday. The site is safe and easy to walk around, and the views of the countryside are spectacular.
