David Whitmer (January 7, 1805 – January 25, 1888) was a leader in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints who eventually became the most interviewed of the Three Witnesses to the Book of Mormon's golden plates.

Who was David Whitmer? Doctrine and Covenants 14–17. February 15–21. Image. PDF. The Lord chose Three Witnesses who would see the Book of Mormon gold plates so they could “testify to the truth of the book and the things therein” ( 2 Nephi 27:12 ). One of these witnesses was David Whitmer.
He was one of the Three Witnesses of the Book of Mormon and testified that he saw the gold plates and beheld “a dazzlingly brilliant light that surpassed in brightness even the sun at noonday and a personage clothed in white and near him a table containing the ancient artifacts.”
