Dean O'Banion is an Irish-American gangster, bootlegger and florist established in Chicago. When Johnny Torrio agrees to the division of the city into sectors so the different gangs won't compete with each other, O'Banion is given control over the North Side of the city. His main rival is Al Capone.
Seasons 3 and 4 of the HBO series Boardwalk Empire featured a fictional version of O'Banion, portrayed by Arron Shiver. He appears as a playable character in the strategy video game Empire of Sin published in 2020 by Romero Games and Paradox Interactive .

In Chicago, Van Alden now works for Dean O'Banion, both as a delivery man and as an enforcer sent to collect debts. O'Banion then has him cooperate with Capone in the upcoming municipal elections , much to Van Alden's chagrin.
