Like its predecessor, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze received "generally favorable reviews" from critics. Destructoid gave the game a perfect 10 out of 10. GamesRadar gave the game 4 out of 5 stars, praising its presentation and challenge whilst criticising the co-operative multiplayer.
