  2. Edgar Allan Poe, one of America’s greatest writers, spent the last years of his life in this modest cottage in The Bronx. Built in 1812, this cottage was typical of the working-class houses that filled the old village of Fordham. It has only five rooms: a kitchen, parlor, and bedchamber on the main floor, and two small rooms in the attic.

  3. The Edgar Allan Poe Cottage (or Poe Cottage) is the former home of American writer Edgar Allan Poe. It is located on Kingsbridge Road and the Grand Concourse in the Fordham neighborhood of the Bronx, New York, a short distance from its original location, and is now in the northern part of Poe Park.

  4. Today, Poe Cottage is owned by NYC Parks, operated by The Bronx County Historical Society, and is a member of the Historic House Trust. Visitors to Poe's cottage can see a glimpse of his life here in the Bronx on Thursdays and Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Sundays from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
