Enrique Krauze Kleinbort (born 16 September 1947) is a Mexican historian, essayist, editor, and entrepreneur. He has written more than twenty books, some of which are: Mexico: Biography of Power, Redeemers, and El pueblo soy yo (I am the people). He has also produced more than 500 television programs and documentaries about Mexico's history.
Enrique Krauze holds a doctorate in history from El Colegio de México and has been a visiting scholar at Oxford, Princeton and other universities.
Krauze spoke at length about his latest book, an autobiography which features reflections on his youth and intellectual upbringing in the 1960s and 1970s as the son of a modest Jewish tailor in Mexico City. Mexico’s single-party state at the time maintained the semblance of democracy but prevented any true democratic competition.
