I Love You, I Love You Not is a 1996 American romantic drama film directed by Billy Hopkins and written (also the play) by Wendy Kesselman . Plot. The film is told through the stories of two women: Nana, a grandmother, and Daisy, her granddaughter.
I Love You, I Love You Not ★★½ 1997 (PG-13) The Holocaust becomes a metaphor for one teen's survival of her first painful romance. Daisy (Danes) is a Jewish student at a snobby and anti-Semetic Manhattan prep school, where she falls in love with the ultimate gentile, Ethan (Law) in a “Kids” meets “The Way We Were” spin.
Summary. Like Kesselman's Maggie Magalita , this piece deals with a young woman's coming to terms with her ethnic heritage -- in this case, her Jewish roots. Daisy is visiting her grandmother in the country.

English-raised young gentleman Ethan is his New York prep school's lacrosse captain and girls' dream prince. Yet he takes a romantic interest in Daisy, the silly-shy social misfit, whose rare only hobby is reading, while confiding in and relaxing only with her 'nana' (grandma), a Nazi concentration camp surviver.
