- At a running time of only 61 minutes, IN THE GLOAMING seems more of a quickie "Afterschool Special" about AIDS than a feature film. Though not tremendously uplifting, Christopher Reeve gives the picture a wistful intellect and depth that keeps it from turning unduly sappy.

Review by Enfant du Siècle ★★★ Beyond being the story of a man returning home to die, In the Gloaming seems to be more a tale about people who don't really know each other and are having a difficult time trying to re-establish, or even establish, bonds under overwhelming circumstances.
