May 29, 2017 · In 1982 Julian Pike was chosen by Peter Brook to sing Don Jose in his famous production of Carmen in Paris, subsequently touring to Zürich, Stockholm, Copenhagen and New York. He then sang the central role of Michael in Stockhausen's Donnerstag aus Licht in Holland, Germany, Italy and, in September 1985, at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.

Pike was born in 1979 in Hammersmith, London, the only child of opera singers Julian Pike and Caroline Friend. She attended Badminton School in Bristol, and while appearing as Juliet in a production of Romeo and Juliet at the National Youth Theatre, she was noticed by an agent who helped her embark upon a professional career.
