Norvell Kay Granger ( née Mullendore; born January 18, 1943) [1] is an American politician from the U.S. state of Texas serving as the U.S. representative for Texas's 12th congressional district since 1997. She is a member of the Republican Party, and was chair of the United States House Committee on Appropriations from 2023 to 2024.
Since making history in 1997 as the first Republican woman to represent Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives, Granger has earned her reputation in Congress as an influential conservative leader. In 2022, Granger was elected by her colleagues to serve as the Chairman of the powerful House Appropriations Committee in the 118th Congress.
