Designed by Winnipeg school architect J. B. Mitchell and built between 1910 and 1912 by the construction firm of J. H. Tremblay & Company using structural steel from the Vulcan Iron Works, Tyndall stone and Leary red brick, the Kelvin Technical High School opened for classes in January 1912, for south Winnipeg students in grades 10 to 12.
