Poindexter and opera singer Sue Ann Poindexter, he began acting in college, then appeared in summer stock in his native Texas at the Dallas Summer Musicals, as well as the St. Louis MUNY, Atlanta's Theatre Under the Stars and The Kenley Players in Ohio.
