Lisa Kirk had been a law student at the University of Pittsburgh before she quit and joined the chorus line at Versailles, a celebrated nightclub in New York. In 1947, she made her Broadway debut as Emily in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s musical, Allegro.
She was born Elise Marie Kirk in Charleroi, PA, on February 25, 1925, and raised in Roscoe, PA. Her father, George Kirk, sang in vaudeville and took his daughter on-stage as a child. As a teenager, she studied music and dance at the Pittsburgh Playhouse.
