Frank and Ollie is a 1995 documentary film about the life and careers of Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston, two chief animators who had worked at Walt Disney Animation Studios from its early years until their retirement in the late 1970s.
According to the book The Disney Villain, written by Johnston and Frank Thomas, Johnston also partnered with Thomas on creating characters such as Ichabod Crane (in The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad), Sir Hiss (in Robin Hood), and story consultant in Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland.
Disney's twelve basic principles of animation were introduced by the Disney animators Ollie Johnston and Frank Thomas in their 1981 book The Illusion of Life: Disney Animation. [1] The principles are based on the work of Disney animators from the 1930s onwards, in their quest to produce more realistic animation.
The Twelve Principles of Animation were mastered in the 1930-40s by Disney artists Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston as they were pioneering the animation techniques in films like Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937), Pinocchio (1940), and Bambi (1942).

Oliver Martin "Ollie" Johnston, Jr. was an American animator, who was one of Walt Disney's Nine Old Men. Ollie was best friends with fellow animator Frank Thomas. He was recognized by The Walt Disney Company with its Disney Legend Award in 1989.
Apr 15, 2008 · The pioneering animator was honored by the Studio in 1989 with a Disney Legends Award. In 2003, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences held a special tribute to him (and Frank Thomas), “Frank and Ollie: Drawn Together,” in Beverly Hills.
