In the audio drama CD, he sees it as Para’s sort-of natural evolution as a magical foci since Slayer fought Paracelsus when he was newly ‘born’ as a sentient demon axe on the battlefield, and Slayer thought he was still too simple-minded and lacked emotional development so he left him to rust there.

During the trailer really one thing caught my eye except for the gameplay (which let’s be honest; in Guilty Gear, it is the ONLY real thing that matters), Paracelsus’ expressions. He seems almost terrified and disgusted by ABA but he also seems very loving some times.
The reason he's all slimy and sludgy in Strive is because of ABA's emotional state- it's mentioned in the arcade mode that Paracelsus is struggling to hold his form due to their relationship and all of the anxiety/manipulation, which is why Jealousy mode in particular causes the black sludge.
