Matsubara, Kaoru also know to her alter ego as Powered Buttercup, is the fighter of the The Powerpuff Girls Z and is one of the main characters. She originated from the show the PowerPuff Girls and been adopted by the Japanese animation production, Toei Animation.
Buttercup is the toughest member of the Powerpuff Girls. She is best known for her aggressive demeanor, rebelliousness and dislike of "girly" things. She acts as the middle child in her sisters' dynamic.
Kaoru Matsubara (松原 かおる Matsubara Kaoru, Buttercup in the English dub), primarily known by her hero name Powered Buttercup (パワード・バターカップ Pawādo Batākappu), is the third member of the Powerpuff Girls Z team. She is represented by stars.
Three ordinary 14-year-old girls, Momoko Akatsutsumi, Miyako Gōtokuji, and Kaoru Matsubara, are engulfed in white light, which transforms them into Hyper Blossom, Rolling Bubbles, and Powered Buttercup, the Powerpuff Girls Z. Peach is also engulfed in white light, transforming into a toy dog who can talk and call the girls to transform.
The white lights hit Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup transforming them into the Powerpuff Girls. Those hit with the black light became the series' villains. After defeating Mojo Jojo, Mr. Mayor assigned them to be the heroines of the city.
Buttercup (named Kaoru Matsubara in the Japanese Version) is part of The Powerpuff Girls Z and is the second member. She transforms into Powered Buttercup and her trademark weapon is a large golden Hammer.
Instead of always being superheroes, they have the power to transform into the Powerpuff Girls Z. In the English dub, they are called Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup regardless of whether they are transformed or not.

Buttercup is the toughest fighter of the clan. She hates wearing skirts and dresses, and when she isn't saving the day, she wears pants or shorts. Her jacket is yellow, with green sleeves. Her hair is black and short, and not very tidy.
Kaoru Matsubara ( 松 まつ 原 ばら かおる?), or Buttercup in the English Dub, is one of the three main characters in Demashita! Powerpuff Girls Z. She is based on Buttercup from Craig McCracken's American cartoon, Powerpuff Girls.
