The tournament will run from June 29 to July 2. Practice rounds will be held on June 27-28. Championship rounds will take place from June 29 through July 2.
The U.S. Senior Golf Open is a golf championship tournament for golfers who are 50 years old at the start of championship play, or older. There were over 3,000 entries for this year's event. Golfers from 48 states are expected to play, including 60 players from Wisconsin.
The course opens at 7 a.m. every day. The course closes at 7 p.m. during the practice rounds and at the close of play during the championship rounds. The first groups tee off at 7 a.m. The last groups tee off around 2:30 for the first four days of the event and around 12:45 p.m. for the third and fourth rounds.
At the top of the list are Wisconsin's own Steve Stricker and Jerry Kelly. Stricker, 56, from Edgerton, has won 12 times on the PGA Tour Champions circuit, including four majors. The course was created in Stevens Point in 1982 by Sentry Insurance. This will be the first U.S. Senior Open held on the course and third USGA championship. On the 18 holes for the tournament, par is around 71. A fun fact: there are up to 30,000 flowers are used on the 16th hole at SentryWorld, which is dubbed the Flower Hole.
