Thames Television was the weekday ITV franchisee for the Greater London area and was formed from the joint venture of British Electric Traction (BET) and ABPC (later Thorn EMI) which replaced both Rediffusion and ABC Television (UK) as a company and Rediffusion as a weekday franchisee.
May 11, 2024 · Thames unveiled a new triangle logo on September 3, 1990 and consequently incorporated it into a second version of its ITV logo, which was used only before networked shows until October of 1991. Sometimes, ORACLE 888 would appear underneath the logo for programmes featuring subtitles.
Both of the company's logos were accompanied by a fanfare called Salute to Thames, composed by Johnny Hawksworth. With the introduction of colour, the ident was remodelled on the vignette, this time using photographs rather than drawings. This ident was designed by agency Minale Tattersfield.

In 1982, Thames added a new closing logo without the reflections for its Channel Four programmes. Against a black or blue background was a box with a blue/white outline of the buildings, a blue/purple gradient BG and the word "THAMES" inside. Underneath were the words "A THAMES TELEVISION PRODUCTION FOR CHANNEL FOUR".
Logo: Against a solid blue background is a blue and gold version of the triangular Thames logo from before. Below that, in an italic font, is the text "THAMES TELEVISION PRODUCTION/PROGRAMME FOR", with the then-current ITV logo. After 1992, this became the primary logo, and the ITV logo was removed.
As a result, Thames TV adopted a sleek, minimalistic London skyline logo. The creative minds behind these idents were English Markell Pockett, with David Dundas crafting the memorable ITV theme, which also doubled as an ITV song.
