The concept of the Lizard in the film is an indirect nod to the character's incarnation in Spider-Man: The New Animated Series that too, lacked of clothing. In comics, Connors had a wife and son, both deceased; his wife Martha died of cancer and he killed his son, Billy, as the Lizard.
