The Best House in London is a 1969 British comedy film directed by Philip Saville and starring David Hemmings, Joanna Pettet, George Sanders, Warren Mitchell, John Bird, Maurice Denham and Bill Fraser. It was written by Dennis Norden.
The story involves an attempt in the late Victorian era to establish a first-class bawdy house in London. Set against this is a feminist crusader ( Joanna Pettet ), who has rescued several "fallen women" from the clutches of their customers and is attempting to teach them a useful trade.
One connives to establish a palace-like house of pleasure, and the other is preparing to launch a giant zeppelin under construction by a mad Italian genius (Warren Mitchell). Both Pettet and Hemmings give the show their best, but the jokes remain at a sub- 'Carry On' level of wit.
