Sep 25, 2020 · That works in favor of it being the hollow knight stabbing itself. If it were the radiance, the stabbing would make more sense after the opportunity to fight it in the dream is gone. It’s not a definite proof but we have to work with the clues we have.
The hollow knight stabbed them self to help the other vessels, they did not choose to become infected, there was nothing they could do about it. That's why in the true ending you see a void version of the hollow knight rise and help the knight defeat the radiance, to defeat the source of all the chaos.

Apr 15, 2017 · That's why the Hollow Knight is stabbing himself throughout the battle, because the Radiance is leaking through his wounds and job one is to stop the Radiance. You either contain the Radiance inside you until the next vessel worthy of reaching you is born, or you turn into the void and absorb the light for all eternity, breaking the cycle.
Myla turning, The Hollow Knight stabbing himself were both sad moments. The saddest one of them all however was discovering I had nothing else to do in the game, that everything was... over.
