(spelled as Tri-Star until 1991) is an American film studio and production company that is a member of the Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group, [1] part of the multinational conglomerate Sony Group Corporation. It is a corporate sibling of fellow Sony studio, Columbia Pictures.

Tri-Star Pictures was originally founded in 1982 as a briefly-unnamed joint venture between Columbia Pictures, HBO, and CBS. It was later officially named under its original name on May 16, 1983, but did not start using a logo until 1984.

Starting in 2014, The Sony logo transitions to the movie logo and the byline reads: "a Sony Company". The third logo was made in 2015, this time animated by JAMM VFX by animating the Pegasus, the clouds and all of its elements using CGI.
