Paramount Global (formerly ViacomCBS; commonly shortened to Paramount) is an American diversified multinational mass media and entertainment conglomerate. The company was originally created from the second merger of the respective second iterations of CBS Corporation and Viacom (both of which were under National Amusements, and were split from the original iteration of the former in 2006) on December 4, 2019.
On February 16, 2022, it was officially renamed Paramount Global, after its movie studio, further capitalizing on its flagship streaming service.

This marks the first time that flagship property Paramount Pictures and its parent company had shared the same name since 1989, when Gulf and Western Industries became Paramount Communications.
