Alexios II Komnenos (Medieval Greek: Ἀλέξιος Κομνηνός; 14 September 1169: 64 – September 1183), Latinized Alexius II Comnenus, was Byzantine emperor from 1180 to 1183. He ascended to the throne as a minor. For the duration of his short reign, the imperial power was de facto held by regents.
Alexius II Comnenus (born 1169—died c. September 1183, Constantinople, Byzantine Empire [now Istanbul, Turkey]) was a Byzantine emperor from 1180 to 1183. Alexius was the son of Manuel I Comnenus and Maria, daughter of Raymond, prince of Antioch. When his father died, Alexius became emperor at the age of 11, with his mother as regent.
