I never dared to dream of a comedy that includes a sexcapades-stuffed beach vacation, a vicious villain hellbent on vengeance, a talking crab, dance remixes of Celine Dion, and lots of love for culottes. Yet my prayers have been answered thanks to Barb And Star Go To Vista Del Mar, a movie so mad and marvelous it feels like a miracle. I didn’t know this is what I wanted, and yet it is what I need!
Bridesmaids writers Annie Mumolo and Kristen Wiig re-team on this screenplay and as co-stars, playing the titular Barb and Star. Hailing from Soft Rock, Nebraska, these middle-aged besties live together in a Golden Girls setup that plays like an endless slumber party. Their days are filled with chatting about exes and raccoons while sitting on the cozy floor display couch of the furniture store where they work. Their nights are spent in gabfests with friends around bowls of hotdog soup.

Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar is a gleefully absurd comedy that's really fun even if the jokes don't always land. Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo are terrific with perfect chemistry. Jamie Dornan is excellent and Damon Wayans Jr. is consistently really funny.
