Christian I of Saxony (29 October 1560 in Dresden – 25 September 1591 in Dresden) was Elector of Saxony from 1586 to 1591. He belonged to the Albertine branch of the House of Wettin . He was the sixth but second surviving son of Augustus, Elector of Saxony and Anna of Denmark.

The marker is at the corner of Limestone and East Main streets. It notes a hotel occupied the site in downtown Lexington for 180 years, from 1797, when John Postlethwait opened an inn and tavern, until 1977, when the eventual Phoenix Hotel was closed.
