   Dec 4, 2007 · Digital descramblers arent worth it as cable companies will catch upto u. And that it is supposedly possible to bypass/descramble the coaxial encryption and get free internet and basic cable. I live in Boston, MA and my only option is Comcast.

   • For a while, we could "hack" our cable box by placing an index card through the right part of the case. In the old days the signal was just everything at once. You didn't ask for channels, they were all just sent, and the box would allow / disallow the channel. For Satelite TV, same thing but there was a digital decoder.

   When cable companies started moving to an encrypted digital system, those old descramblers became paperweights. I have seen similar boxes for digital cable, but they were just software modded and didn't last very long. The cable company (Rogers in Canada) got wind, they just blacklisted all the serial numbers.

   Always watched TV at my friends house because he had a descrambler. Got all the PPVs for free. All they did was order cable for one month, then cancel it. Ordering it for one month strung the cable from the pole to the house. Canceling it meant they left the wire in from the pole to the house, but cut a small part of it off.
