For laptops, turning on the Number Lock activates the number pad option of your integrated keyboard. These keys have the numbers in different colors below the letters or symbols. The Euro symbol can be generated by using 0128 using the numeric keypad. With a laptop without a keypad, you need to use the embedded keypad.

This may be on the top row, or at the side if you have a full-size keyboard with its own number pad. For Mac devices, you can press Alt (or Option) and the number 2 key.
