Fenton Family Tree. Fenton Art Glass began as a glass decorating firm in Martins Ferry, Ohio, in 1905. Brothers Frank L. Fenton and John W. Fenton soon decided to build their own factory near an abundant source of natural gas.
In 1975, they hired Robert Barber, who produced hand-blown art glass vases. In 1986, Frank’s son, George W. Fenton became president of the company after the death of one of the founders.
