      • Even though it's far from a masterpiece and suffers from some pacing issues, Gran Bollito is a must-see for fans of serial killer-based horror films simply because of the unconventional tone it applies to tell the real life story of Leaonarda Cianciulli (Shelley Winters), a middle-aged Italian woman who killed three young women during the early days of the World War II.
  1. Dec 9, 2016 · Overall: 2.5/5. Certainly not one of Twilight Time’s mainstream efforts, Gran Bollito is an interesting if not altogether satisfying variance from the norm of serial killer films. The cast is engaging, and the movie treads its own unique path that you may find quite intriguing.

  2. Dec 26, 2016 · OVERALL – 3.0/5. Overall, Gran Bollito, to say the least, is an unusual drama but with compelling performances by Shelley Winters and Max von Sydow (in drag), this might be worthwhile to those looking for the weird. This Blu-ray released by Twilight Time offers good video and audio transfers but falters in the features department.

  7. My Rating: 3.5 out of 5. Never heard of or had any knowledge of this film. Another one of those blank slates going into this. This is an Italian thriller/horror black comedy from 1977. Titled Black Journal. Directed by writer director Mauro Bolognini. Bolognini created many memorable foreign films.
