  6. I thoroughly enjoyed, "Book of Rhymes: The Poetics of Hip Hop" by Adam Bradley. While not so much about the culture or background of artists, this book more of a collection of lyrics from different eras of rap music, and discusses the word-play, poetic techniques, flows, and rhyme schemes, of numerous artists, and really gives you an appreciation for the art of the rhyme.
