D'Abo is the granddaughter (on her mother's side) of the anti-communist Georgian general Giorgi Kvinitadze. In November 2003, D'Abo married Hugh Hudson, the Oscar-nominated British director of Chariots of Fire (1981). They remained married until his death on 10 February 2023.
