It's like recommending one of the double-length episodes to start with--some of those like "Jess Belle" are my favorites, but I wouldn't recommend them as a first-watch episode. I would choose an episode that epitomizes the series as a whole, not one that's an outlier in any obvious way.

There should never be a "ranking" of Twilight Zone episodes. We all have an opinion on episodes and good or bad we all are right. My top 5 are a bit more obscure: Death Ship, Of late I Think of Cliffordville, Hocus Pocus and Frisby, Passage on the Lady Anne, and Third from the Sun.
