Ehud Olmert (/ ˈ oʊ l m ər t,-m ɛər t /; [1] Hebrew: אֶהוּד אוֹלְמֶרְט, IPA: [eˈhud ˈolmeʁt] ⓘ; born 30 September 1945) is an Israeli politician and lawyer. He served as the 12th prime minister of Israel from 2006 to 2009 and before that as a cabinet minister from 1988 to 1992 and from 2003 to 2006.
Ehud Olmert is an Israeli politician who served as mayor of Jerusalem (1993–2003) and as prime minister of Israel (2006–09). He became a chief architect of Ariel Sharon’s 2005 policy of disengagement from the Gaza Strip and was a founding member of the centrist Kadima party established that same year.
