  4. Feb 22, 2007 · Minot's Ledge lighthouse was a dangerous place. Many people warned that the spider-legged structure was unstable. The platform it was built on was mostly submerged and several workers were swept away by the waves during its construction.

    • Sheffield Island Light – Norwalk. At the entrance to Norwalk Harbor is Sheffield Island Light, a Victorian-style lighthouse built in the mid-1800s. The lighthouse can be reached via the Norwalk Seaport Association’s ferry from May through Labor Day.
