Marjane Satrapi was born in Rasht, Iran. She now lives in Paris, where she creates her films and paintings. She is the author of Persepolis, and she co-wrote and co-directed the animated feature film version of Persepolis, which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature in 2007.
