Nov 22, 2012 · Mikhail Yaroslavich was the Prince of both Tver and had two rules over the principality of Vladimir (1304-14 and 1315-18). He was made a saint of the Russian Orthodox Church. Mikhail Alexandrovich was the third son of Aleksandr Mikhailovich of Tver. Mikhail grew up in Pskov, where his father had fled after the Tver Uprising of 1327. He was christened by the Archbishop of Novgorod, Vasily Kalika, in 1333. Five years later, he and his mother were called to Tver when Aleksandr returned to the city.
Like his father, Mikhail remained based in Tver. In 1308 Mikhail led a campaign against Moscow itself but could not breach the kremlin walls. Princess Anna and her children asked Prince Yurii of Moscow for permission to carry the holy relics to Tver, and he barely gave his consent. Then boyars from Tver were sent to Moscow to bring Saint Michael's body back to Tver.
