Emmy-winning comedian and former SNL writer John Mulaney is a pretty funny guy, so it stands to reason that his new sitcom, Mulaney, would also be funny. Sadly, going off the pilot, that doesn't seem to be the case. To be fair, Mulaney (the show) was put through the wringer before it even aired. The project was originally developed at NBC in 2013 but was never picked up to series. Then, about a year ago, Mulaney was revived on FOX, where it continued to develop and got a 16-episode commitment. Now, Mulaney is finally hitting the airwaves on Sunday night -- but after all that, it may not have been worth the wait.

Mulaney himself has even acknowledged that Seinfeld was a huge influence on the show. Regardless, in terms of actual comedy, that's where the similarities to Seinfeld end, because Mulaney (the show) just isn't that funny.

Comedian John Mulaney's new sitcom, Mulaney, boasts a talented and funny cast, including Mulaney, Nasim Pedrad, Martin Short and Elliott Gould. Unfortunately, the show's comedy is obvious and dated. While Mulaney makes a great standup comedian, his writing and acting in this aren't really up to snuff for television, at least not in today's modern a...
