    Fox caught the entrepreneurial bug at a young age, selling gum to classmates. He told Arizona Republic reporter Sue Doerfler in 2015, "I would go to Price Club and buy a pack for 25 cents and I'd go to school and sell a piece for 25 cents each," he said. "I think the janitor at school probably hated me. There was gum all over."

    Fox’s parents wanted him to stay away from the restaurant business, so he attended the University of Arizona, majoring in real-estate finance. Fox ended up dropping out of college to follow his passion and opened his first restaurant in Tucson with the rest of his college savings.     The first Fox Restaurant Concepts restaurant was Wildflower, an upscale American eatery located in North Tucson. The restaurant opened in 1998 and continues to be a Tucson favorite. The restaurant celebrated its 20th anniversary in October 2018.

    Prior to selling his entire company, Fox has sold individual restaurant concepts. Sauce Pizza and Wine started under the Fox Concepts umbrella and then was sold to the Scottsdale group who created RA Sushi. Fox announced the sale in early 2015.

    Fox collaborated on a New York Times bestselling cookbook. Fox partnered with Andrew Weil, a doctor and advocate for alternative medicine, to open True Food Kitchen.
