    Critical reception

On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, 96% of 48 critics' reviews are positive, with an average rating of 8.2/10. The website's consensus reads: "Retaining the heart and wit of the original movie while also carving out a fresh path for itself, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off in the animated medium and soars." On Metacritic, the series has a score of 82 out of 100, based on 20 reviews, indicating "universal acclaim". Rendy Jones of RogerEbert.com praised the show saying it "shatters expectations" and "cleverly reexamines its entire story with a profound twist without sacrificing any pieces of its identity." Alison Herman of Variety magazine said it "successfully combines the innovative style and comic charm of its predecessors with a new spin that corrects for the tropes we can now see with hindsight" and notes that the show is not for kids but "is meant for former kids revisiting an old favorite through more grown-up eyes." Maya Phillips from The New York Times expressed dissatisfaction with the work, specifically targeting its narrative and humor. Phillips described the storylines as "bland" and the jokes as "lackluster".

As of April 2024, there are no plans for a sequel series of Scott Pilgrim Takes Off with Bryan Lee O'Malley stating that it is unlikely to happen, however, following the release of the series in November 2023, O'Malley said that a sequel series wasn't out of the picture. When asked about it O'Malley stated "I never say never, but right now, it seems like it would take about 50 different miracles simultaneously for another season to happen. So, we'll see."

In an interview with CBR in February 2024, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Ellen Wong stated that they would jump at the opportunity to reprise their characters in any future Scott Pilgrim adaption, where a sequel series to Takes Off was included. Winstead later cited that "if that creative spark is back, I think we would all be ready to tackle it again."

•In a blog post in August 2012, one user asked O'Malley what the possibility is of having an anime adaptation tied closely to the comics, suggesting that, with the mature content of the comic, it could air on Adult Swim. Bryan replied and said that it would be possible, but seemed unlikely at the time.

•On 30 March 2023, it was confirmed that many of the roles in the series would be reprised by the actors who originally portrayed their roles in the Scott Pilgrim movie.

•Bryan Lee O'Malley stated that Keita Saito and Shota Saito would not reprise their roles as Kyle & Ken Katayanagi in the English version of the series, as the actors were not English speakers. He however, noted that he and the show's production team tried to have them reprise the role in the Japanese language dub of the series, but didn't make it.

•Many comic actors have cameos in the series, including Nick Frost, Simon Pegg, "Weird Al" Yankovic and Bowen Yang.

•Ironically, Pegg and Frost's characters are security guards, seen eating Cornettos, a reference to their work on the "Three Flavours Cornetto" trilogy, created by Edgar Wright. Their uniforms may be a reference to the second instalment, Hot Fuzz, in which they play police officers.

•Nelson Franklin, who played Comeau in the film, voices a documentarian in Episode 5.
