In March 2017, Shockwave.com removed a lot of classic games from their website, which included the entirety of the Sunset Racer series. This made all of the games from the series impossible to play.
The game takes place in a city called Sunset City. It contains daily challenges and a story mode. The player can unlock the parts and most of the vehicles by completing daily challenges under a certain amount of time. Some of the challenges can have multiple rewards. There is also three car classes.
There is one feature in SR2 that the game is very known for, which is car codes. This feature allows the player to view someone's car in the Showroom if the player have their car code. The reason this feature might be so popular though is because the name of it is a bit misleading, which makes people think that car codes give the player free cars.
In the original web version of the game, there was no Story Mode. The developers said it will be released someday, but it never got added.After Shockwave's removal of the game, it was impossible to play it until early 2018 when theswegone found a way to play it using HTML editing.Two months after theswegone found out how to play the game, a standalone of the full game was found.
