Vijayakumar’s cinema career began in 1961 as a child actor in the film Sri Valli. In the film Sri Valli, starring Sivaji Ganesan and Padmini, Vijayakumar played the small Lord Murugan. Though he did not receive many offers, he was meant to play Lord Murugan in Kandhan Karunai (1967), but Sivakumar played that role instead.
Vijayakumar was born on 29 August 1943 in Nattuchalai village, Madras Presidency, British India. He is an actor and producer, known for Kizhakku Seemayile (1993), Anthimanthaarai (1996) and Cheran Pandian (1991). He is married to Manjula. He was previously married to Manjula Vijayakumar.
