The wonderful modern visitor centre on the east side of the fort includes a 35 metre high panoramic viewing tower with a fabulous view of the entire site of the fort and a view of the surrounding area including the Tyne and shipyard site and much of neighbouring Newcastle to the west.
The attraction draws visitors from around the world. The gateway to Hadrian’s Wall, it is the most excavated fort along the wall and features a 35 metre viewing tower and large interactive museum. Wallsend has a famous history of shipbuilding.
