  2. In terms of the Lonesome Dove series ' storyline, this account serves as a prequel to the Lonesome Dove miniseries, and a sequel to Dead Man's Walk. It first aired on CBS beginning Sunday, January 13, and continuing Tuesday, January 15, and Wednesday, January 16, 2008.

  3. The sequels (and prequel) are worth reading but McMurtry never again hits the highs of Lonesome Dove. Don’t listen to the naysayers about the miniseries. Bits of it are dated - some effects and the slow mo - but it’s a spirited effort and couldn’t be better cast.

  4. Dead Man's Walk: With F. Murray Abraham, Keith Carradine, Patricia Childress, Edward James Olmos. In this prequel to "Lonesome Dove", two young men join the Texas Rangers unit that's on a mission to annex Santa Fe.

  5. I've heard the sequel and prequel novels aren't as good They're not. But then again, the bar is Lonesome Dove, so they're not exactly bad themselves.

  6. This old fashioned style T.V western yarn has some brilliant actors and is a prequel to the famed 'Lonesome Dove'. The strongest aspect of the story is seeing these Texas Rangers battle it out against the fearsome Apache and (lesser known) Comanche warriors.
