Rome: The Complete First Season was released as a six-disc Region 1 DVD box set in the United States in 2006, distributed by HBO Home Video. Featuring all 12 episodes, it included features such as episode commentaries, behind-the-scenes footage and making-of features.

There is still time, and you only have to look at Band Of Brothers and The Pacific to know that HBO haven’t been shy of rekindling similar styled big budget series in the past.
I used to have the DVD box set, and it came with a set of subtitles called “all roads lead to Rome,” where it would display all sorts of facts/trivia about the world in the time of Ancient Rome. Sadly I no longer have this box set, but I would totally buy the Blu-ray set if it had this feature.

HBO's Rome, while not always accurate, certainly feels authentic and is one of the best shows on Rome out there. You might want to check out I, Claudius (its older and the production shows its age, but it is fantastic and right up there with HBO's Rome ) and Domina (new show focused on Livia).
